Caryn serves as Breakthrough's Enrollment and College Access Manager, welcoming new students to the program and guiding high school Scholars through the college process. She brings deep leadership experience across the college access landscape to the role. Caryn is driven by a commitment to educational equity and to helping students find paths to top-choice colleges and meaningful careers.

Caryn earned her undergraduate degree in African American Studies from Harvard University and her graduate degree in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from The New School.

Breakthrough's commitment to supporting highly-motivated, traditionally underserved students from middle school through college aligns with my own educational journey and professional commitment. Too often, students with every bit of potential are stopped short by systems that weren't built with them in mind. I'm honored to help Scholars and families navigate the path to college and beyond.

I love telling great stories so much that I compete, and I've won a local Moth StorySLAM! It's a skill that comes in handy when I'm helping scholars find their own voices for college essays.
