Nasir is an incredible 8th grader at Jenks Academy for the Arts and Sciences in the midst of his second year at Breakthrough. Through Breakthrough, he participates in the Algebra Project, a program in its second year at our host partner Germantown Friends School that provides an opportunity for students from the neighboring community to learn Algebra I. Nasir hopes to attend Germantown Friends School as a freshman next fall. You can also find him helping out in the Breakthrough office many days after school before algebra begins.
When Nasir isn’t at Breakthrough, he spends time giving back to his community as a junior block captain. This past summer, he helped register voters and distributed free backpacks to families in the community in preparation for the start of school. His mother Bonny leads by example and encourages his community engagement. She has been a strong Breakthrough parent advocate and recently joined the Breakthrough Board of Directors.
